Day 2

Subject: Everybody says it, [firstname], and it's true!

Hi [firstname],

If you've been in Internet marketing for any length of time you will have heard the expression “The money's in the list!”

And it's true – well, sort of.

A better (and more accurate) expression would be: The money's in your RELATIONSHIP with your list.

Either way, having a mailing list is crucial to your success online. In fact, some well-known marketers regard their mailing list as their key business asset.

Why?

Because a list of prospects and customers allows you to put offer after offer in front of eager buyers. You get to tell them about your latest products or services – stuff they probably would not otherwise know about. Of course not everyone on your list will buy, but it's all a numbers game. The more people on your list, the greater your chances of making a sale.

You don't have to stick to selling your own stuff, either. Affiliate sales (where you sell somebody else's product in return for a commission) can be a lucrative additional string to your bow.

The first step in building your list is to offer a freebie as an incentive to get people to sign up. This should be a free report (or something similar) that people can download and benefit from right away. It should have a high perceived value, but actually cost you very little to produce.

Be sure to capture the prospect's first name and their e-mail address. Use two-step authentication (so you don't get accused of being a spammer) and let people know you'll be sending them e-mails from time to time.

Then e-mail them on a regular basis.

E-mail your list two or three times a week to begin with. Don't just bombard them with sales messages, either. Be generous and share lots of information for free so people will want to open your e-mails and read them.

Warmly,

[Your Name]
